Quantitation of Menstrual Blood Loss Using Radioactive Chromium(Cr^(51))

Abstract

|
The menstrual blood loss was measured with radioactive chromium(Cr51) in 20 non-married and 1o married Korean women.
Three .to five days before the onset of menses, the red blood cell of the test sucject, labeled with Cr51, was injected. The peripheral blood was withdrawn 2 or 3 times throughout the menstrual period.
The menstrual pads were ashened in the furnace and its activities of Cr^51 and those of blood samples were used in calculating menstrual amount.
Followings were the results:
1) The man menstrual blood amount in Korean virgins was 38.6 ml. ranging from 20.3 ml. to 54.6 ml.
2) The mean menstrual blood amount in Korean married women was, 54.7 ml. ringing from 12.0 ml. to 104.6 ml.
